Late post as it is actually 02/02/2026. very busy week, and an even busier weekend.
Hardest job this week was a simple wheel bearing job turned into a royal PITA, bike was presented as a weird clunking from the crank area, this ended up being the rear wheel freehub side bearing collapsed and grumbling, the front wheel also had a bearing on its way out, we always try and replace bearings as a pair so even out wear and ease of maintenance for the customer, it started off with needing a 16mm hex key, very difficult to find…. once removed I check the bearing codes, order what I didn’t have, they arrive, turns out the codes on the bearings were incorrect and I then had to wait a further 2 days for the correct bearings, as a result I have ordered 2 new vernier callipers (current ones broke just as they were needed but have lasted 5 years) and a bearing guide mat with 1:1 scale of the bearings so I can match the sizing easily…. Saturday 31st was my birthday so that’s why this post is late. we are getting busier in the workshop so if your looking to book i suggest sooner than later, we are booking around 5 days ahead now.
